Meet my friend Noah. He’s an awesome kid: great big brother, gentle & caring heart, funny…. I wish I got to hang out with him more!
His parents and I went to college together, so when they called me to take pictures of their boys I was excited to catch up and meet their growing family! They did warn me that Noah may be hard to photograph and get eye-contact from, but I was ready to put some time into the session! I was thrilled when he looked at the camera and gave me those sweet smiles.
According to the Autism Society of America, one in every 110 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with some form of Autism. Noah is one of those.
Sometimes something as simple as a photo session is a challenge for a family that has a child with autism. I was shocked and saddened when Noah’s mom told me that many photographers are hesitant to work with children that have autism. I am so happy that I was able to capture these portraits of Noah for his family. Just being around him is a blessing, and I thank them for allowing me to spend time with their sweet family.
For the month of April, I am going to give 10% of all photo sales to Noah’s team for the 2010 Walk for Autism, benefiting the Alabama Autism Society (April 24th.) If you would like to donate directly to his team please contact me and I will forward you the information. Thanks for helping to make a difference in the lives of so many!
